Seal Beach Pier Surfing Song

I wrote a pop punk song about surfing at Seal Beach Pier. If you surf there I think you might get it.

You go left and I'll go right
We'll split the peak in the morning light
Walk to the nose before it gets steep
We can hang our toes even in our sleep
if I fall I hope you don't get hit
I'll swim to the shore to retrieve it
the sea is cold and the sky is grey
but that last ride will stay in my thoughts all day

I wanna hear those people scream
looking down drinking their coffee with sugar and cream
they don't see me hanging five
because they're barely alive
walking on the pier is overrated anyway

call me a kook and tell me what you know
about rules and fools and which way to go
just shut your mouth and paddle away
I'll see you in the parking lot some day
kick out strong and let it fly
watch those colors soaring by
I'll ding the shit out of this log
break the rail on rocks in the fog

I wanna hear those people scream
looking down drinking their coffee with sugar and cream
they don't see me hanging five
because they're barely alive
walking on the pier is overrated anyway

The inside's full of broken glass
and high school kids ditching their class
I'm way too old to do this shit
said the grey haired man who's really fit
some girls smell nice as they pass by
with bright big smiles and gleaming eyes
surfing's all I wanna do
when the ocean's flat it makes me feel blue

I wanna hear those people scream
looking down drinking their coffee with sugar and cream
they don't see me hanging five
because they're barely alive
walking on the pier is overrated anyway

I wanna hear those people scream
looking down drinking their coffee with sugar and cream
they don't see me hanging five
because they're barely alive
walking on the pier is overrated anyway
